In 2016, Industrial Light & Magic, jointly with Artstation and Wacom, organized a contest devoted to Star Wars' anniversary. The contest consisted of 3 major stages and encompassed virtually all the edges of an artist's work on such a high-scale project. Curators and board included ILM artists who had been engaged in developing the saga's episodes. For me, it was a grand experience and lots of pleasure. Beside the familiar tasks on designing plot visuals and character concepts, I had a chance to try myself in vehicle design and storyboarding. At the beginning of the contest, 3400 applications had been submitted. Eight finalists (including me, to my delight) were found at the last stage.
